AJ's email from 2/11/12

I just have one comment...two more weeks!!!!   'nuff said.

as every week goes on, things are getting more and more different. i feel like everything is the same but there is always the little thought in the back of my mind that im going home very soon. and i think it doesnt really help a ton the fact that everyone asks me often "how much time do you have left" and ill say "2 weeks" and then they say "wow thats nothing. your basically already in your house" and so that keeps the thought there all the time lol this week was as i put it "the beginning of the end" since it started the last half of the last change here. and it showed with so many people asking how much time i have left.
monday we had a good noche de hogar with elvis and a friend that he invited. the members are really starting to help us a ton here which is good so that the hermanas will get here and have a decent sector to work with. cuz it really is hard to get to a sector where neither person knows anyone, especially if you dont have any investigators.
tuesday we had another noche de hogar with familia pizarro. this time it was with some of his family members that are inactive and that live in our sector. i wish i could help him activate them since he has done so much for us but its just tough cuz they both married guys that arent members so thats why they stopped going to church. and here if the guy doesnt like it, its tough for the woman to do anything. wednesday we had a good branch council and then comitee meeting. lots of times here, the leaders put goals for the ward and then about a month goes by and they just kinda forget about it cuz they dont talk about it a lot. but right now things are just as strong as when they first put the goals at the beginning of the year.
friday we had a good day with everything. first we had a good lesson with xxxx. he is still progressing really well but after this week, we have decided to move his date back a few weeks to give him more time to be ready for the baptism so that means that i officially wont have anymore baptisms in the misson :( but its alright cuz i know that there are several people here that we are teaching that will get baptized within the next few months so hopefully i will be able to see pictures of that after im already home. then later that day we had a cita with our other person who has a baptismal date for march, xxxx. she is really smart cuz she described the whole chapter we had left her in the book of mormon and says that she feels good when she reads. we just need to get her to go to church now but thats just a little tough cuz she is pregnant and is having a little trouble with that. and then to finish the night we went to the church to do something with the elders quorum but just ended up playing soccer with the youth. it was really fun although playing in missionary clothes sucked but i still really enjoyed it.
saturday was a good day too cuz we had a bbq with one of the best families here, familia donoso. it was the start of people saying bye to me. cuz starting this week, several families are gonna start going out of town for a couple weeks just before going back to school so i have to say bye early. it was fun cuz they have a big parcel and they took us out there and we just chilled with them for a little while. and then that night we had a talent show in the church and it turned out alright. i sang two songs. one by rascal flatts and another by big and rich. im pretty sure almost no one understood much and the type of music was different but it was fun at least.
and then sunday we went out with pres. pizarro to visit a few people which turned out really good. there are just some people that we like taking out more than others cuz they teach well and do the things that they are supposed to do. and he is one of them cuz he knows how to talk to people well and help them understand. and thats the kind of person that i want to be after the mission, hopefully. and then later, we stopped by a house of a member to share something small with them and we just happened to find the house where most of the young women were at. lets just say that it was not the easiest lesson ever trying to control things with 7 girls between 14 and 18 years old. but it was still pretty funny and there was a lot of laughs
well just 2 weeks left. its all going by so fast and i dont know what to think really. i just have lots of mixed emotions. so hopefully i can just enjoy every moment and make things count. i hope that everyone is doing well. take care
